On 14 October 2026, a workshop introducing young people to electronics, programming and sensor applications took place in Podgorica within the WB Maker Bridge project. The workshop forms part of a regional programme connecting education, practical learning and cooperation among partner organisations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro.
Participants showed interest in the technologies presented and their practical applications. ESP32 development boards and sensors offer an accessible starting point for understanding smart devices: how a device collects information from its surroundings, how a program processes that information and how it can trigger a particular action.
An important aim of the workshop was to help young people understand the connection between an idea and a technological solution. This learning approach encourages exploration, questions and an understanding of technology through concrete examples, rather than through theory alone.
The Podgorica workshop forms part of the joint work of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of East Sarajevo, BADEN from Serbia and the Institute of Modern Technologies Montenegro — IMTM. The project programme includes practical workshops, mentoring support, knowledge exchange and open educational resources, with particular emphasis on engaging young people and women in STEM.
The interest shown by participants provides encouragement for further activities and new opportunities for practical learning. Those interested can continue exploring ESP32 and sensors through courses on the project platform, while upcoming workshops will create opportunities for young people from other communities across the region to take part.
Continue learning with recommended beginner courses. Explore the current invitations for Čačak and East Sarajevo.
This project is co-funded by the Western Balkans Fund and the European Union, as part of the WBF-EU Joint Action.
